Wifo erwartet schwächeres Wachstum bis 2024

Das Wirtschaftsforschungsinstitut (Wifo) erwartet für die kommenden fünf Jahre (2020-24) ein etwas schwächeres Wirtschaftswachstum – weniger als zuletzt prognostiziert und auch weniger als im Zeitraum 2014-19. Weil auch Österreich die weltweite Konjunkturabkühlung zu spüren bekommt, wird sich das Wachstum im Schnitt auf 1,4 Prozent pro Jahr abbremsen, bis 2019 waren es im Schnitt 1,9 Prozent.

Vor allem in den Jahren 2020 und 2021 stützen deutliche Einkommenssteigerungen bei den privaten Haushalten die Konsumausgaben der Verbraucher „und wirken dem internationalen Sog entgegen und mildern die wirtschaftliche Abkühlung in Österreich“, erklärte das Wifo am Dienstag zu seiner neuen Mittelfrist-Prognose. The Redmond, Wash., software giant is unveiling tools aimed at what is perhaps the hottest part of the cloud market, the ‘hybrid cloud’

Microsoft’s new tools are aimed at the ‘hybrid-cloud,’ which lets companies shift some computing to cloud services while controlling data they need to hold closely.

Microsoft Corp. is introducing new tools for its campaign to outflank cloud-computing rival Amazon.com Inc. by targeting big businesses that have balked at shifting their data to the cloud.

The tools Microsoft unveiled Monday are aimed at what is perhaps the hottest part of the multibillion-dollar cloud market, the so-called hybrid cloud. A Map of Inequality in Countries

Social and economic inequality between and within regions in countries is rising in many advanced economies and is now at the forefront of the policy debate because of perceptions that some people and places have been left behind. Changes in global trade and technology have shifted jobs and industries on the map, but the economic gains within countries are not well shared.

One might think the solution is for people to move in search of better jobs and lives. But people find it harder to move to booming cities with more jobs like Washington D.C., San Francisco or London in part because they can’t afford to live there, or because they do not have the right skills required for higher-paying jobs.

Our recent paper studies regional inequality in 20 advanced economies, including the United States, Canada, Italy and Germany. We find that regional disparities in income are large, persistent, and increasing over time. Den Rest des Beitrags lesen »
